Lower Defsko Lake

Lower Defsko Lake (Albanian: Liqeni i Ulët i Defskos, Serbian: Доње дефско језеро / Donje defsko jezero) is a large mountain lake in Kosovo.[lower-alpha 1] Lower Defsko Lake is located in the Kosovan side of the Šar Mountains under the slopes of the Vraca mountain.[1] It is very near the origin of the Radika river which originates in Kosovo. This lake is on an elevation of 2,112 m (6,929 ft) above sea level.

  1. The political status of Kosovo is disputed. Having unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008, it is formally recognised as an independent state by 97 UN member states (with another 15 recognising it at some point but then withdrawing recognition), while Serbia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory.
