Kurt Burnette
Kurt Richard Burnette (born 7 November 1955 at Sculthorpe Royal Air Force Base in Norfolk, England, UK) is the Bishop or Eparch of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Passaic.[1] He succeeded Bishop William C. Skurla, who was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Pittsburgh in 2012. Burnette was appointed on October 29, 2013, by Pope Francis as bishop, and enthroned in a Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in Passaic, New Jersey on December 4, 2013.[2] On 20 October 2020, Pope Francis named Burnette as apostolic administrator of the Slovak Catholic Eparchy of Saints Cyril and Methodius of Toronto.[3][4] On 3 March, 2022, Pope Francis changed the jurisdiction and circumscription of the Eparchy of Saints Cyril and Methodius of Toronto to establish the Exarchate of Saints Cyril and Methodius of Toronto in the Ruthenian Catholic Church. Burnette was appointed apostolic adminstrator of this new exarchate.[5]
