This village is famous for the Thookam Festival which is the National Festival of Kollancode. All people celebrate this festival without caste and religion. Which is celebrated once a year. It is usually celebrated in March or April (the date on which the Bharani star comes in Meenam month in Malayalam Era).
Erstwhile Ezhudesam Panchayat and Kollemcode Town Panchayat were integrated to form Kollencode Municipality by the Government Of Tamilnadu (2021). Chairperson-Rani (Dmk), Vice Chairperson -Baby (Congress) where elected through the indirect election on March 4, 2022.
