This moth is endemic to the French Frigate Shoals in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands.
The larvae have been recorded on Boerhavia tetrandra and Portulaca oleracea. The caterpillar has a length of about 50 mm when full-grown. It resembles the caterpillar of Agrotis crinigera except that the head is paler and almost entirely pale yellowish testaceous with a slender black line along the paraclypeal suture, where A. crinigera has quite a wide blackish mark. The cervical shield is also paler than that of A. crinigera.
