Gavara

Kavarai Strain Gavara are one of the many small communities or castes of Andhra who live mostly in the north coastal districts.

Large concentrations of Kavarai Strain Gavara population are distributed in and around Anakapalle in Visakhapatnam district. A few isolated villages in Vizianagaram, East Godavari and West Godavaridistricts are also inhabited by Gavaras. There is a significant population in Tamil Nadu as well. A large number of Kavarai Strain Gavara families from these villages migrated to other parts of India

Some say that the community has come to be known as ‘Kavarai’ Strain ‘Gavara’ because they Immigrants from Tamil Nadu. We may trace out the antiquity of this by Kavarai's Caste heritage is Conch Cutting Ancient Tamil's of Seithal Inherited from generation to generation .

inThe word ‘KAVARAI’ Strain  ‘GAVARA’ means Split Appearance. According to the South Indian Merchant Group's Defenders 'KAVARAI' is Veerakkal Chotrudai.

In common with many other communities, the Kavarai often use the title Naatu Chettiar.[1]
