Kandukur, Prakasam district
Kandukur or Kandukuru is a town in SPSR Nellore district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality and the headquarters of Kandukur mandal as well as Kandukur revenue division.[3]

Geography
Kandukuru (earlier known as Skandapuri) is located at 15.2165°N 79.9042°E.[4] It has an average elevation of 13 metres (43 ft).[5] Kandukur was a part of the erstwhile Nellore district and was then included in the newly carved out Prakasam District in 1970. Later as a part of the districts reorganization in 2022, it is now merged with the residual SPSR Nellore district.
Demography
As of 2017 India census,[6] Kandukur had a population of 1,54,000. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kandukur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 55%. In Kandukuru, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state.[7][8]

Roadways
National Highway 167B, which starts at Mydukuru passes through the town and eventually terminates at National Highway 16 which is part of Golden Quadrilateral highway network on the outskirts of Singarayakonda.[9][10]
Railways
At present Kandukuru does not have a railway station. Singarayakonda is the nearest railway station. Due to its proximity with the Kandukuru many major trains stop at the station.
