Jameel Usman

Jameel Usman is a Maldivian politician. He was member of People's Majlis for Gemanafushi Constituency from 2014 to 2019 representing the Progressive Party of Maldives.[2][3] He was member of 18th Parliament Committee on National Security, National Budget Committee, Social Affairs Committee, Public Accounts Committee, National Economic Affairs Committee and Government Oversight Committee. He withdrew his candidature from his winning constituency as per Party high command in 2019.[4] He had served as party Chief Whip and Council of Progressive Party of Maldives.[5][6] He served as Special Investigation officer at Maldives Police Services from 1996 to 1998.[7]

Usman is Chairman of Jameel Foundation,[8] and has been the Head of SCM Tree Top Hospital since October 2019.[9]

Education

Usman did Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Hospitality and Tourism management from University of Birmingham and Master's of Business Administration from University of Bedfordshire.

Career

He was Member of Parliament of People's Majlis Maldives from Gemanafushi Constituency from 2014 to 2019. Usman had also served as SCM Trans Maldivian Airways TMA from 2009 to 2013.[10] He was General Manager at Crown & Champa Group of Companies from 1998 to 2009. He was a country coordinator of Global Youth Parliament.[11] He served as Deputy Chief Commissioner of The Scout Association of Maldives from 2013 to 2018.[12]
