The story follows a humble housemaker Tulasi who lives in an urban setup with her husband, three grown-up children and aged parents-in-law. Though she dedicated her twenty-five years of married life for the sake of her husband, children and in-laws, she lacks respect from some of them due to her incomplete degree and for being uneducated. Her husband Nandagopal "Nandu" begins to develop romantic feelings for his cunning colleague Lasya, who is insecure about Tulasi. Tulasi wins a funfair in her daughter Divya's school and secures a job in her school as a cooking teacher.

Tulasi is elated but her happiness is short-lived as she loses the job due to her unpunctuality caused by her family, who in turn blames her for her failure. Gayathri, Ankita's mother becomes skeptical about Abhi (Tulasi's elder son) and Ankita's marriage because Tulasi is uneducated and her family is middle class. However, Tulasi manages to arrange Abhi's marriage with Ankita and rebukes Lasya and warns her not to interfere in her family matters after Lasya advises Nandu to call off the marriage. Prem, Tulasi's younger son gets jailed after a misunderstanding with a courageous Shruti, who believed that Prem was even teasing her whilst he was instead going to convince her to be a singer in his band. Tulasi bails Prem and Shruti realizes her misunderstanding and eventually, joins his band and later Prem and Shruti develop romantic feelings for each other. Later, Tulasi's friend Anjali visits her after 30 years for Abhi's wedding. She suspects the relationship between Lasya and Nandu and conveys the same to Tulasi, who shrugs off her words, having complete trust in her husband.

After a series of incidents, Lasya antagonizes Tulasi in Nandu's mind and he leaves for a trip with Lasya without informing his family about his location. Later, a spoiled brat grows infuriated at Tulasi after she saves an innocent girl from being molested by that brat. To take revenge, he kidnaps Divya leaving Tulasi fear the worst. However, she manages to save Divya, who along with Nandu's mother Anasuya and Abhi, in turn, blames Tulasi for helping an outsider, which kept Divya's life at stake. Tulasi justifies her actions but they do not realize their mistake. Looking at Tulasi saddened by the event, Anjali takes her to a resort for a trip, where Lasya and Nandu were celebrating their honeymoon. Tulasi learns in the resort that her husband is cheating on her and feels depressed. She returns to her home but hides the matter from the family because she knew that Gayathri will stop Abhi and Ankita's marriage if the truth comes out and she does not want to punish her son due to the mistake of her husband. Anjali leaves the house after Lasya and Nandu frame her though Tulasi maintains trust in her.

Shruti is continuously stalked by her and Prem's boss Ashwin, who cunningly convinces Shruti's father to consider him as the groom for Shruti. Shruti decides to stop the wedding but Ashwin abducts Prem and threatens to kill him until she marries him. Helpless, Shruti marries Ashwin while Prem is saved by Tulasi's brother Deepak. Abhi and Ankita get married without Tulasi's presence who was caring for a hospitalized Prem. The family rebukes her for not attending the wedding but eventually learns about Prem. After few incidents, Ankita realizes Tulasi's worth and begins to care for her. Lasya plays a drama and enters Nandu's house with her son Lucky and Tulasi offers her shelter reluctantly to hide the matter from her aged parents-in-law. However, Nandu's father learns the truth and eventually the family too learns about it. Unexpectedly, Nandu's mother Anasuya supports Nandu's affair with Lasya as Lasya is educated, unlike Tulasi.

Nandu and Tulasi decide to get divorced and Nandu moves out of his house to Lasya's house. Naïve about Lasya's intentions, Divya choses to live with her father and Lasya leaving Tulasi devastated. However, Divya realizes her mistake and attempts suicide. Nandu saves her and she begins to stay with Tulasi. Nandu loses his job and Anasuya plays a heart-attack drama to let Nandu and Lasya into the house and Tulasi accepts reluctantly. Nandu has a heart attack for which Lasya blames Tulasi. Nandu begins to recollect his memories with Tulasi and the things she did for him from the past twenty-five years which infuriates Lasya. Rohit, Tulasi's childhood friend returns to India after thirty years and coincidentally meets Tulasi. He offers her a job and she accepts wholeheartedly. She succeeds in doing her job and gets popular among the colony. Jealous about Tulasi and upon being mostly instigated by Lasya, Nandu begins to hate her and assumes that she is having an affair with Rohit but later, convinces himself.

Ashwin tries to force himself upon Shruti but Tulasi spots Shruti running for the sake of her honor and saves her. Shruti gets separated from Ashwin but her father persuades her to reconsider which compels her to leave the house to start her life afresh. However, Some incidents lead to Prem having her stay in his friend's house. Ashwin uses the loopholes of law and takes her to his home. Ashwin tries to force himself upon Shruti, who accidentally kills him but Prem takes the blame. However, Tulasi, Rohit and Shruti figured it out that Ashwin is alive and planning to trap Prem. Ashwin is exposed and Shruti's father feels repented for not understanding her daughter. He dies of guilt leaving Shruti orphaned. Tulasi brings her home much to the chagrin of Anasuya, Nandu, Lasya, Abhi and Ankita. Ankita feels jealous about Shruti and leaves the house with Abhi upon being instigated by Gayathri. Feeling a lack of respect in his job, Nandu resigns to start a business. Divya becomes a medical student thanks to Tulasi.

Madhavi, Nandu's sister and her husband Mohan play a drama to help Nandu realize his mistake and reunite Nandu and Tulasi. However, Lasya foils their plan and Nandu misunderstands Tulasi's hand behind the plan. He handovers the household responsibilities to Lasya but Tulasi objects and has an emotional outburst telling him that she did much for the family and she deserves respect and love in return. Frustrated, she kicks Lasya out of the house and Nandu leaves with her. Tulasi plans to start a cottage industry of textile. Anasuya and Lasya tries to foil her career plans but fails as Shruti saves Tulasi's attempts. Anjali returns and encourages Tulasi to live on her terms. Prem gets an opportunity as a music director for a soap opera. While at Gayathri's home, Ankita conceives but Gayathri and her husband Sharat asks her to abort the child as they are not financially settled yet. Since Abhi would object to her decision, Ankita hides about her pregnancy and reluctantly aborts her child upon being pressurized by her parents. Abhi sees Ankita's reports and feels excited unaware that she aborted their child. Tulasi and Nandu visits Abhi but Gayathri reveals that Ankita aborted her child. This causes tensions between Ankita and Abhi, who slaps her. However, Abhi and Ankita make up and they return to Abhi's parental house which makes Tulasi delighted.

However, Ankita plots to turn Abhi against his family and plans to make him stay st her parental house with her.

Later Tulasi plans to celebrate Nandu's father and Anasuya's fifteith marriage anniversary. By knowing this Bhagya informs the same thing to Lasya and provokes her against Tulasi. Lasya asks Nandu to celebrate the marriage anniversary of their parents and Nandu feels elated by hearing this and he asks his father to organize the anniversary by him but he refuses. But Anasuya wants to celebrate the anniversary with her son and creates a scene in the house by fasting without eating and falls sick. She refuses to take treatment and demands Tulasi to agree with Nandu's wish of celebrating their anniversary by him. Tulasi accepts her demand. On the other hand, Bhagya and Lasya plans evil against Tulasi.

On the next day, the occasion starts in the resort Then Bhagya and Lasya plots against Saraswati (Tulasi's mother) and Badly insults her. Tulasi gets aggressive and slaps Lasya for badmouthing her mother. Nandu supports Lasya and questions Tulasi, But she outbursts in the occasion and states him as a failed father, son and husband for his family and breaks up her relation with Nandu mentally. Nandu and Lasya feels insulted for this. On the same week, a lawyer approaches Tulasi for informing the court hearing of their past divorce case. Then eventually Nandu and Tulasi get divorced. An aged lonely man, Ramachandra requests Tulasi to be the owner of his failing textile factory which she accepts, though after some fiction due to Anasuya and Ankita's plots against her. She wants some money to invest in the failing factory, for which Nandu's father suggests to mortgaging the house. Nandu objects to the decision claiming the legal right over the house. Feeling that she is the cause of all the tensions, Tulasi handovers the house to Nandu and leaves the house. Saddened by the incident, Nandu's father gets a stroke and was admitted to the hospital. Tulasi arranges money for surgery by mortgaging the house at Sasikala (a moneylender). Nandu regrets himself as his father suffered from a stroke. The surgery was successfully and Parandhaamaiah is all right. Nandu went to his father and apologized but he refused and rebukes him.

In the same week, Ramachandra and Tulasi discuss about the money required for the factory expenses but Tulasi doesn't have any sources for money. So she requests the garment company material supplier Mishra to supply the material without any advance and he agrees with that. Tulasi and family feels elated about this. But their happiness is short lived because Nandu had met with an accident as he is depressed by his fathers scolding. But fortunately, he is out of the danger with minor injuries. Lasya takes advantage of this situation and plans evil against Tulasi that to enter her house and throw out her. Anasuya supports her. Tulasi comes to Lasya's home to see Nandu's well-being. But Lasya and Anasuya stops her from seeing Nandu and blames her for Nandu's accident. They demand Tulasi take Nandu home so that he may come out of the depression caused by leaving his family. Tulasi stands helpless and bring Nandu and Lasya to her home. From the Next day Tulasi starts her factory as Mishra agrees to supply material. But Nandu insults her as she is an undergraduate.Lasya feels jealous and joins hands with Giridhar (who wants to own Ramachandra's factory for establishing his business venture) to destroy Tulasi.

However, Tulasi re-opens the factory by performing all the rituals with Nandu. But her happiness is short-lived as the electricity department officers cut off the power due to penalty which is actually caused by Giridhar. But later he was caught by Tulasi and the company regains the electricity. On the other hand, Nandu had a huge loss in his company due to unfinished work. This makes him irritated and depressed. Here comes a Business magnate GK who offers a huge deal with Nandu's bankrupting company with an selfish interest to marry his daughter Akshara who loves Nandu's younger son Prem. But Prem is in love with Sruthi which is not confirmed for her side yet.

Nandu and Lasya accepts his deal and plans for Prem marry with Akshara and drive out Sruthi from their way. So Nandu decides to marry Sruthi with another person to get rid of her. But Prem expels the groom's family when Nandu arranges engagement for Sruthi. By observing these situations Lasya provoked Nandu to blackmail Sruthi so that she wont express her feelings towards Prem.On the same day Prem proposes Sruthi in front of his family but she rejects (as Nandu blackmailed her). At last Nandu demands Prem to marry Akshara, a helpless Prem agreed for that. Akshara and Prem are get readying for the marriage. But things take an ugly turn at the marriage as Tulasi learns that Sruti is blackmailed to not express her love. Tulasi brings Sruthi at the function and creates a scene at the place but at last GK and Akshara understand the situation and decides to marry Sruthi and Prem which disappoints Lasya and Nandu. And Lasya demands Tulasi to pay the debt of Nandu's company for which she agrees.Finally Sruthi and Prem tie the knot. Ankita feels jealous of Sruthi and insults her in welcoming the married couple itself.

Shruti and Prem decides not to consummate their marriage until he gets settled as Tulsi can't bear the responsibilities of everyone in the family, who is dependent on her. Anasuya apologises Tulasi after realizing her mistake through an overheard conversation between Lasya a d Bhahya, who discuss that Anasuya is a burden and pawn for Lasya to live in the house. Eventually, Tulsi is revealed to be a victim of Ovarian cancer and is taken to resort or wellness center run by Dr Advait Krishna, who befriends her. However, she does not know anything about her disease nor the family except Abhi and Nandu. However, the family learns the truth and starts adoring Tulasi which surprises and perplexes her. She learns about her disease but decides to remain stronger for the sake of family. Ankita starts to become a caring family member. Lasya arranges her marriage in the same resort with Nandu. On wedding day, Nandu leaves the resort, feeling suffocated and Lasya creates a ruckus and threatens to incarcerate the family. Nandu returns to the resort and marries Lasya under compulsion. The same night, Tulasi falls unconscious after singing and is taken to hospital. A surgery is performed surviving her. The family returns home and Lasya starts to torment the family annoying Nandu. Lasya secures a job while Nandu fails to do so. Frustrated, Nandu takes an interest in working as a manager for his friend's café which is approved and receives support from the whole family except Lasya.

Meanwhile, Lasya appoints an arrogant maid Vasantha for herself and Nandu who troubles the family specially Anasuya. After a fiction, Vasantha is sent out of the home but she leaves understanding Tulasi's kindness and promises to help her whenever she is in need. Abhi starts to party with his friends and wastes the money, eventually landing in debts. Unbeknownst to the family and Tulasi, Abhi mortgages Ankita's jewellery. Lasya, frustrated by Nandu's priority being his family over her instigates him against Tulasi and the family. Nandu blames Tulasi for the children being irresponsible hurting her to the core but realizes that he was wrong and he did nothing as a father by having an extra-marital affair. Tulasi starts her plans to make her children responsible. The family sets out to celebrate Makar Sankranti. Abhi gets conned by his friend in stock market, who escapes with his money. After getting hold of his friend and in a scuffle, he accidentally kills his friend and escapes. The Police torment Tulasi's family for Abhi's whereabouts. Tulasi eventually finds him but an absuive SI comes there and insults Tulasi by asking about her husband. Abhi fights with the SI, who feels aggravated and arrests him but next morning, he says that he has not arrested anyone. After the issue is solved, Prem demeans Lasya for insulting Tulasi and the latter asks him to leave the house with Shruti. Ramulamma, the family maid shelters Prem while Anasuya scolds Tulasi for being harsh. Prem begins to live independently. Divya is initially angry with Tulasi but learns that she cares for Prem and wants him to be independent and faraway from the issues created by Lasya.

Nandu wants to leave the house and demands Tulasi to send his parents with him. Reluctantly, Tulasi asks Parandhamaiah and Anasuya to go with their son. Unwilling, they leave the house secretly and begins to live in an old age home. Tulasi is shattered and further breaks down when Lasya accuses her of hiding Nandu's parents. However, Lasya is slapped by an enraged Madhavi and berated by the family in return.
