Jambi Malay

Jambi (Jambi Malay: Baso Jambi, Indonesian: Bahasa Jambi ) is a Malayic language spoken in Jambi province, Indonesia. It is closely related to Palembang Malay in neighbouring South Sumatra and Bengkulu Malay in Bengkulu Province.

Notes
  • /p/, /t/ and /h/ are unreleased and become [p̚], [t̚] and [h̚] and /k/ becomes a glottal stop [ʔ] in the syllable-final position.
  • /k/ and /ɡ/ become palatal [c] and [ɟ] and /h/ beocomes velar [x] when they appear before the phoneme /i/.
  • /ʁ/ is pronounced as trill [r] at the end of a word.
