Hinakeha
Hinakeha is a Polynesian goddess, a form of Hina.
Lady Hinakeha was an ancient Hawaiian noblewoman and a Chiefess of Molokai, an island known for several female rulers. Several of them were Hinakeha’s descendants—Kapau-a-Nuakea, Kamauliwahine and Hualani.
Hinakeha’s parents are unknown today. It’s known Hinakeha was wife of Chief Kamauaua,[1] ruler of Moloka‘i. Kamauaua and Hinakeha had at least four children. Hinakeha and Kamauaua’s sons were:
- Kaupeʻepeʻe-nui-kauila
- Keʻoloʻewa[2]
- Haili
- Uli-hala-nui
Hinakeha’s grandchild was High Chiefess Kapau-a-Nuakea.
It’s unknown where Hinakeha was buried. If Kamauaua had another wife, her name didn’t survive.
