Guru Dutt Films

Guru Dutt Films Pvt. Ltd. was an Indian film production company, founded by actor-director Guru Dutt in 1955.[1][2] Guru Dutt Films, along with the Guru Dutt team, saw some of its best works during the 1950s and 1960s, also sometimes referred to as the "Golden age of Indian cinema."

Production and vision of the company slowed passed the untimely death of Dutt. after which the company was managed by his brother(s), son(s) and released three films, which were unable to make any notable mark on audience or box-office. Pyaasa, produced by Guru Dutt Films, is listed by Time as among the top 100 movies of all time. Kaagaz Ke Phool, another of Guru Dutt Films release was a box-office disaster of its time has followed a worldwide cult following. Ironically, the movie ran full house when re-released later.

As of 2004, it was run by Dutt's son - Arun Dutt,[1][2] who wrote and directed the film Khule Aam (1992).[3] The company has been defunct since at least 2017 per the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.[4]
