Gary Menteer

Gary Wayne Menteer (November 21, 1939 - January 18, 2016) was an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter. He is the creator of the American short-lived sitcom television series Boys Will Be Boys, which he created with David W. Duclon.

Career

Menteer began his career, as moving to New York City, he got the role in the 1957 broadway play The Music Man.[1]

In 1960s-1980s, Menteer appeared in many varieties and films including, The Bob Hope Show, Bye Bye Birdie, Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse, The Carol Burnett Show, Finian's Rainbow and Hello, Dolly!.[2]

In 1985, Menteer was nominated for an Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program, he also was nominated for another, in 1986.[3]

In 1987, Menteer created the new FOX sitcom television series Boys Will Be Boys, which he created with David W. Duclon and was first named Second Chance from 1987.[4] In 1988, he and Dunclon changed it to Boys Will Be Boys at January 1988.

Death

Menteer in January 2016 at the hospital in Rancho Mirage, California, at the age of 76.[5][6][7]
