Etymology

Along with three adjacent streets, Frunzenskaya Embankment was named in honor of the Soviet military leader Mikhail Frunze.[1] Previously called Khamovnicheskaya Embankment, the date of renaming in different sources were 1925,[2] 1926,[3] and 1936. The last date is most likely correct, since on the map of Moscow in 1934, the embankment was also called Khamovnicheskaya.[4]
