Eggert family
Eggert was the name of a Dutch patrician and noble family.

History
Jan Eggebrechtsz de Lange († approx. 1371), who came from the Waterland, bought his freedom in 1333 and in 1371 took the feudal oath. His son Jan Eggert († ca. 1365) was a poorter (citizen) of Amsterdam. In 1361 he was one of the two members if the Vroedschap who represented the city at the reconciliation between Duke Albrecht and the nobles of the city of Geertruidenberg. His son Johan Eggert was looked after in 1366 by Count Louis II of Blois with a fiefdom in Westzaan. His son Willem Eggert was to make a great career as a Dutch statesman. In 1410 he was enfeoffed with the new founded Lordship of Purmerend and Purmerland. His son Jan Eggert was one of the Hooks in the Hook and Cod wars, whose properties were confiscated by the victorious Cod party. Willem Eggert cousin, Jan Pietersz Eggert, was Schepen of Amsterdam in 1413/14. His daughters married into the important Amsterdam patrician families Bicker and Van den Anxter.[1]
