Daphne Dorman

Daphne Dorman was an American transgender comedian, actress, and software engineer based in San Francisco.[2] Best known for her work with comedian Dave Chappelle, she died by suicide on October 11, 2019, in San Francisco. Daphne was mentioned by Chappelle in his comedy specials Sticks & Stones (2019) and The Closer (2021).[3] Dorman was survived by her daughter Naia Dorman.[1][4][5][6][7]

Dorman was raised in Philadelphia, and was a software engineer before becoming a comedian.[2]

Dorman defended Dave Chappelle after the backlash he received after releasing Sticks & Stones.[8][9]

Dorman committed suicide on October 11, 2019 at the age of 44.[2]
