Danny Goldring

Danny Goldring is an American film, stage and television actor.[1][2] He is known for playing former homicide detective and Tom's Kane childhood friend "Ryan Kavanaugh" in the American political drama television series Boss.[2]

Life and career

Goldring was born in Woodstock, Illinois,[3] the son of a United States Navy officer.[2] He attended at a preparatory school in Maryland.[3] Goldring then attended at Trinity University.[3] At the age of 18, he decided to become an actor for which Goldring was just visiting some old friends of his in New York, in which someone informed him to become an actor.[3] Goldring served in the branch of the United States Navy which was the Signal Corps, later residing in Maryland after being discharged.[3] He began his career while appearing in a stage play A Thurber Carnival.[3] Goldring worked as a puppeteer with the Cole Marionettes, in which he toured in numerous performances with them for two years.[3]

Goldring resided in Chicago, Illinois in 1970, in which he attended at The Theatre School at DePaul University.[3] He then appeared in the stage play One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in 1973, in which the stage play was shown at the Arlington Park Theater.[3] Goldring appeared on numerous plays for which he also made an appearance to radio in Chicago, Illinois.[3] In 1978, he completed in playing the role of "McMurphy" on a stage play for which Goldring found out that actor, James Farentino took over the role when he attempted to try out the role, being told that it was taken.[3]

Goldring began his film and television career in 1976, first appearing in the television film The Last Affair. He then appeared in the soap opera television series Search for Tomorrow, where he played the role of "Beau Mitchell". Goldring also played the role of "Hank" in Texas. He guest-starred in television programs, including, ER,[1] Matlock, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, NYPD Blue, Early Edition, Wings and The Practice.[2] Goldring played the role of Major League baseball catcher and manager "Bill Carrigan" in the 1992 film The Babe.[4] He co-starred and appeared in films, such as, The Dark Knight (as "Grumpy"),[1] Bean, Chicago Overcoat, Chain Reaction and The Fugitive.[2]

In 2014, Goldring starred in the film Dig Two Graves, where he played the role of "Proctor".[5] With his stage career, he played the role of "Detective Vince Getz" in the stage play Big Lake Big City, in which the play was shown at the Lookingglass Theatre Company.[6] His most recent role from Adult Swim's Joe Pera Talks with You, where he played the role of "Grandpa 'Papa' Joe".
