Cyrille Eldin

Cyrille Eldin (born 6 May 6 1973, Le Chesnay) is a French actor, television host and columnist.[1]

Biography

Born in Le Chesnay, he has four brothers and sisters. After his parents divorced, he lost his father in a car accident. Married and father of two teenagers, he divorced in 2015. In 2016, he formalized his relationship with journalist and columnist Sandrine Calvayrac in the program he took over on Canal +, Le Petit Journal. We can see him from 2004 on television on Canal + in the program 20 h 10 pétantes, where he interprets a parody of Stéphane Bern in the sequence Bernchelor, the single gentleman. In 2006, he presented the pilot for the show J'y suis j'y reste, which was to become Everyone wants to take his place. He will be dismissed by the production in favor of Nagui. In September 2012, he joined the team of the program Le Supplément still on Canal+, on set and in the "Eldin Reporter" section, then joined Le Petit Journal of the same channel in 2014. From September 2015, he appeared in the boulevard comedy Fleur de cactus by Barillet and Gredy, at the Antoine theater in Paris (alongside Catherine Frot and Michel Fau). He is also in the new team of columnists for the Grand Journal on Canal+. At the start of the 2016 school year, he succeeded Yann Barthès at the presentation of the Petit Journal, but from its launch, the show lost audience and Cyrille Eldin was the subject of criticism, as much on the personalization of the show than on the emptiness of the program. Because of the very poor audiences of the season, Le Petit Journal was finally canceled but Cyrille Eldin remained on Canal +, where he hosted La case en + from the start of the 2017 school year, on Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. in 2018, he promotes Hair transplantation.[2]

Controversies

He is criticized by Laurent Ruquier feeling uncomfortable about him[3] in 2016 interviewing with a casual tone the far right leader, Marine Le Pen, what he admits, on France Inter.[4]

In January 2017, a controversy broke out concerning Cyrille Eldin's attitude towards Camille Crosnier, a journalist from the Quotidien program, whom he physically threatened on the sidelines of a trip by Benoît Hamon. Yann Barthès, the host of Quotidien and also Cyrille Eldin's predecessor, then described the latter, without explicitly naming him, as "a totally reluctant colleague, a bit violent and misogynistic", accusations to which Cyrille Eldin responded with irony.

In 2021, he appears in a video of the far right magazine Valeurs Actuelles, saying he refuses "étiquettes", apreciates the antisemitic novelist Louis-Ferdinand Céline, reveals having received Florian Philippot for Le Petit Journal a bad move in his career and feels close to Vincent Bolloré.[5]
