Colleen Barry

Colleen L. Barry is a nationally recognized American health policy research scholar, educator and leader. She is the inaugural dean of the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy at Cornell University.[1] Previously, she was chair of the department of health policy and management at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. At Johns Hopkins she held the Fred and Julie Soper professorship and had a joint departmental affiliation in mental health. She was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2019 and the National Academy of Social Insurance in 2022. Her research focuses on how health and social policies can affect a range of outcomes for individuals with mental illness and substance use and communities at risk for violence. She completed a B.A. from Drew University in 1992, graduating summa cum laude. Barry earned a M.P.P. from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1999 and a Ph.D. in health policy in 2004.[2][3]
