CIC (gene)

Protein capicua homolog is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CIC gene.[5][6][7]

The term capicua derives from the Catalan expression cap-i-cua which literally translates to "head-and-tail".[8].

Clinical Significance

CIC gene deletion forms part of the 1p/19q codeletion mutation seen in oligodendroglioma, a form of primary brain tumour.[9] FUBP1 gene is also lost in the 1p/19q codeletion mutation.
