Bluelight (web forum)

Bluelight is an online web forum and research portal dedicated to harm reduction in drug use. With a user base of over 450,000 registered since bluelight.ru was formed in 1999 it has a dedicated following of people who use drugs, researchers, and people seeking advice for harm reduction in their drug use. It does not promote drug use explicitly, as evidenced by the honorarium to the deceased in Bluelights Shrine where many members who have passed due to their drug use, mental health disorders, and for reason's as varied as they are.

In 2021, Bluelight started a social media iniative to spread it's reach in a contemporary internet. The main focus is a Discord room where anyone can come to discuss harm reduction in drug use with Bluelight.org as an official headquarter to keep peoples anonymity safe from local law enforcement,.


Bluelight's overarching philosophy is simple. Meet people where they are and encourage open dialogue that empowers the individual to be the primary agent of their own physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.[1]

Partnerships

Bluelight.org was originally formed in 1997 as a part of a website called the MDMA Clearinghouse and it As of 2013, Bluelight has partnerships with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), an organization focused on clinical research on psychedelic drugs,[2] and Pill Reports, a web-based database for MDMA based pill testing results.

Bluelight has mentions in several formal publications.[3][4][5][6]

Monica Barratt is the primary research director for Bluelight.

Researchers sometimes use web forums such as Bluelight learn more drugs, drug use, people who use drugs, and anything related to drug use.[7] Individual users use it to share information and ask questions.[8]
