Battle of Hadiya
The Battle of Hadiya was fought between the forces of Hadiya led by Garad Aze, and the Ethiopian Empire armies under Emperor Sarsa Dengel.[1] Hadiya ruler refused to pay tribute to the Ethiopian emperor which lead to the conflict.[2] Emir Uthman of Harar dispatched 500 Malassay warriors to assist Hadiya however Aze's own men who were large in number refused to fight the invading Ethiopian army.[3] Hadiya soldiers cited their refusal was due to heavy casualties already sustained by the Oromo migrations. Malassay of Harar finding themselves alone in battle, were thus easily defeated by the Ethiopian forces.[4]
