Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, popularly known as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University,[1] is a public university located in the north prime of Bihar state in the city of Muzaffarpur in India. Established in 1960, this university has 39 constituent colleges. Distance education courses are also offered. Besides, the university organizes symposia, seminars and workshops. It is an institution of teaching and learning in the city and offers full-time and part-time courses ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate and research level. It is named after B. R. Ambedkar, Indian polymath, social reformer and the architect of Indian Constitution. in past time his name was Bihar University, but later the university's name changed to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University.

Academic Staff College of UGC

The Academic Staff College of B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur is one of the 45 academic staff colleges established in different parts of the country in 1987 following the programme of action of the National Policy of Education (N.P.E). Subsequently, six more A.S.C's were established raising the total number of A.S.C to 51 at the turn of the century.[3]

Yoga & Sports

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur participated in Khelo India University Games 2021–2022. University team played with KIIT University Team, Bhubaneswar. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur by 2-0 sets in the Quarter Finals and emerged as Pool A Champions.[4]
