Balkrishan Goenka

Balkrishan Gopiram Goenka (born 15 August 1966) is an entrepreneur based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is a co-founder of the 153 billion (US$2.0 billion) Welspun Group.[2]

Early life

Balkrishan Goenka (known more as BK or BKG) was born in Hissar, Haryana, the son of Gopiram Goenka and his wife Gayatri Devi Goenka.[3][4] The second of three children, he grew up in Delhi before moving to Mumbai in the early 1980s.

Career

Goenka set up Welspun along with his cousin, Rajesh R. Mandawewala, who is now the managing director of the Welspun Group.[5] He is the largest shareholder in group companies like Welspun India Ltd, which is one of the largest home textiles producer in the world[6] and Welspun Corp Ltd, which is world's second largest manufacturer of large diameter pipes.[7][8]

B.K. Goenka has also served as President of ASSOCHAM.
