Awadh Queer Pride

Pride is one of the most rejuvenating experiences of people who belong under the umbrella of rainbow . Umbrella doesn’t discriminate ok the bases of choices. Keeping in mind the sacrifices of countless people, Awadh Queer Pride celebrated its first Pride on 9th April 2017. People from different districts of UP attended the parade. It drive its inspiration from the first ever Pride in India, Kolkata Pride, 2 July 1999. The walk started from Sikandarbagh crossing and continued for 1.5 Km till General Post Office Hazratganj.

It was  one of its kind, people came together in harmony and love to celebrate the existence of the LGBTQIA+ community. It saw more than 300 supporting souls. Rainbows and colors were covering the road. Faces of a group who face discrimination on the regular bases felt free and dared to be themselves. Performance made the event wholesome. Children came out to their parents and siblings, and mates came out and ft belonged.
