ATON LLC is one of the oldest investment companies in Russia. It was founded in 1991, sold to UniCredit group in 2007 and recreated in 2009.[1] ATON operates in 30 Russian cities.[2] ATON’s headquarter is in Moscow.

History

December 20, 2006 ATON Capital Group announced that it sold 100% of its institutional business which includes ZAO Aton Broker and Aton International Ltd (together, the “Aton Institutional Business”) to Bank Austria Creditanstalt AG (“BA-CA”), a member of UniCredit Group, for US$424 million in cash and signed a 3-years non-compete agreement. ATON offers investment, brokerage, asset management, corporate finance and merger and acquisition services on both Russian and international markets.

In 2013 ATON took part in IPO of the Moscow Stock Exchange as a co-manager and as well as in the SPO of QIWI – the first SPO of foreign equities on MICEX.[3]

In 2014 ATON was named Investment Company of the Year by Financial Elite of Russia Awards.[4] In 2014 ATON was Russia’s only independent investment group in Thomson Extel Russia Top 10 ranking.[5] ATON confirmed its leading positions in Extel 2015 ranking.[6]

In 2015 ATON was named "Company of the Year"[7] and “Best broker for private clients”.[8] In 2015 ATON acted as a co-lead manager of CREDIT BANK OF MOSCOW IPO, which raised RUB 13.2 billion.[9]

In 2016 ATON was ranked №1 for the amount of IPO/SPO at the Moscow Exchange.[10] In 2016 ATON introduced ATON SPACE – the first platform for HNWI investors.[11]

In 2017 ATON was named Investment Company of the Year by NAUFOR.[12] In 2017 ATON was named №1 in "Best asset managers for millionaires" ranking by Forbes.[13]

In 2018-2020 ATON offered its clients to participate in a number of unique Private Equity projects.[2] In 2019 ATON launched fund "Aton Alternative Strategies", which allows private investors to invest in hedge funds. Also, in 2019, ATON launched ATON Trading platform that provides direct access trading for a broad range of financial products on the global markets.[2] In 2020 ATON became a partner of Bank Saint Petersburg's Private Banking division. Also, in 2020, ATON became the largest market maker of exchange-traded funds in the Russian market.[2]

In 2022 Moody's downgraded the credit rating of ATON to Ca.[14]

In 2022 Fitch Ratings assigned a credit rating B "Negative" to ATON.[15]
