Biography

Amir H. Fallah was born in Tehran, Iran in 1979.[4] He has a BFA degree awarded in 2002 in Painting from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).[5] Fallah has an MFA degree awarded in 2005 in Painting from University of California, Los Angeles.[5] While attending MICA, he started Beautiful/Decay magazine as a zine.

His paintings have a flat graphic quality to them and often feature borders, reminiscent of Persian miniature painting and comic books.[6][7][8] There are many patterns used, and bright colors.[8] Fallah's work deals with complex issues of identity and diaspora.[8][9][10] He has had numerous solo exhibitions including, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tucson; South Dakota Art Museum; Schneider Museum of Art in Ashland, Oregon; San Diego Art Institute; and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.[11][12]
