Interstate Hotels & Resorts merged with Aimbridge Hospitality in 2019.[3] The merger integration was in full swing and in March 2020, the company responded to the effects of the pandemic.[4] In November 2020, Aimbridge Hospitality announced its expanded receiver services to help stabilize hotels with distressed debt and recover lost value due to the ongoing challenges in the hospitality industry.[5] In December 2020, the company announced Mike Deitemeyer as president and chief executive officer and Dave Johnson as executive chairman, effective January 1, 2021.[6]
Controversy
During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Aimbridge Hospitality refused to join the international community and withdraw from the Russian market. Research from Yale University published on March 28, 2022 identifying how companies were reacting to Russia's invasion identified Aimbridge Hospitality in the worst category of "Digging in", meaning Defying Demands for Exit: companies defying demands for exit/reduction of activities.[7]
