History
Across the Border was founded in 1991, dissolved in 2002 and reunited in 2007. In the alternative scene, the band gained a reputation far beyond the borders of Baden-Württemberg and also toured abroad several times. In total, Across The Border has given around 350 concerts.
With their symbiosis of punk rock, folk, ska and rock, Across the Border is considered a pioneer and figurehead in folk punk in Germany. Many songs are now considered classics of the genre, such as I can't love this country, Last Crusade or the cover version The night is not just for sleeping. In their lyrics, the band often deals critically with social conditions, racism and developments.
In November 2002, Across the Border broke up for the first time after eleven years of band history, over 300 concerts throughout Germany, in the Czech Republic, Switzerland and France and over 30,000 records sold, as the double burden of work and band was no longer bearable for some band members. In Baden the band has meanwhile played in halls with a capacity of 1000, but this trend could not be extended nationwide.
In May 2007, the band announced that they had decided to reunite in the spring. The new studio album Loyalty was released nationwide on January 16, 2009 via Twisted Chords / Broken Silence.
Nicole Ansperger was hired as the successor to violinist David, who left in the summer of 2008.
On November 17, 2012, the band announced their dissolution again with a performance at the Substage in Karlsruhe.
In 2016 the vinyl album Calling 999 was released; it was then offered in some clubs in Karlsruhe.
The band gave a one-off comeback concert in Karlsruhe in 2017 and 2022.[1][2][3]
