Title 42 of the United States Code

Title 42 of the United States Code is the United States Code dealing with public health, social welfare, and civil rights.

In 2022, the phrase "Title 42" sometimes specifically denotes 42 U.S.C. § 252, which prohibits entry into the United States if the director of the Center for Disease Control believes entry could introduce communicable disease into the US. This section was activated in March 2020 to turn away asylum seekers at US borders because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[1][2]
