2022 ADCC World Championship

The 2022 ADCC World Championship or ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship 2022 is a no-gi submission grappling event that will take place on 17-18 September 2022[lower-alpha 1] at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.[3]

History

This tournament was originally scheduled to take place in September 2021 but was postponed to 2022 due to the international travel restrictions and the global lockdowns due to Covid 19.[4] Competitors have to qualify by finishing first of a continental qualifying events, known as ADCC Trials, or by being invited to compete by the organisation. Returning champions or previous world championships medallists are automatically qualified.[5] 31 of the 77 confirmed athletes will be making their first ADCC appearance.[6]

The men's divisions feature 16 competitors: eight qualified athletes, seven invitations and the defending ADCC champion. Women's divisions feature 8 competitors: four qualified athletes, three invitations and the defending ADCC champion.[2]

The 2022 World Championship will feature a superfight between André Galvão (ADCC Superfight champion) vs Gordon Ryan (ADCC 2019 Absolute champion).[6]
